Last Friday, I did a quick video for the members of our facebook group Business Success for Therapists about three simple things they could do to get their next booking for their complementary therapy business. If you haven’t seen it, here are the main points:
Follow up with past enquiries
Go through your email, phone, your facebook messages or wherever your clients send you enquiries – hopefully you have a system in place to record all your enquiries in one place (this can be as simple as a spreadsheet) and follow up with everyone who sent you enquiry in the last month and didn’t book. Don’t be afraid of looking pushy, people are busy with their lives and they often put their health on the bottom of their priorities list. So just say “Hey X, just checking if you got my message last week and if you had any questions”.
Also, messages get filtered to the spam folder sometimes and there’s a chance they never got your reply to their initial enquiry in the first place. It’s your duty to follow up, otherwise they might think you never replied to them. How rude!
Get in touch with your existing clients and get them back on your calendar
Contact your existing clients with a friendly reminder that to get the full benefits of the treatment they need to see you regularly and it’s time to schedule their next appointment! Have a script in place which you can use again and again, so you don’t have to come up with the words every time, and it becomes a second nature to you. Again, people are busy and need to be reminded that their health matters. They will appreciate you thinking about them.
Send out a newsletter
If you collect email addresses on your contact form and have a note on your contact form that “by providing their email addresses they agree to be put on your mailing list with the option to unsubscribe at any time”, then sending out a newsletter to all your contacts is a great way to stay on top of their mind. No need to sound salesy, just send a newsletter with helpful tips or curated article. The goal is to be seen as the expert in your field, so they know you’re the best therapist to help them with their problems.
So there you have it, 3 simple things you can do today to get your next booking. And remember – just reading this and thinking about it won’t get you ANY clients. You actually have to take action and DO the steps above. As my favourite saying goes “Knowing and not doing is the same as not knowing”.
